Spyware is any program that gathers personal information about computer users without their consent or knowledge.

Difference between spyware and virus

Spyware and Virus are both malicious program but there is a different. Spyware do not usually self-replicate or spread from one computer to another one as same way as a computer virus. Instead, Spyware gets on a system by deceiving the user or through known security flaws in software. Most Spyware program is installed without user being aware. They bundle with shareware, other download software or music CDs, once users download and install, they got it. Other Spyware infect computers through known security holes in the Web browser (especially Internet Explorer). When users visit a ‘bad’ web site, the web site may contain code, which attacks the browser and forces the download and installation of Spyware without user known it.

The danger of Spyware
